#UnlimitedYou w/ Nike, KOBOX & Barry's Bootcamp

Last weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to train with Nike and London fitness boutiques, Barry’s Bootcamp and KOBOX! I have always been a big fan of Nike Events, and was definitely not going to pass up the opportunity to train with them! Over the last year have attended them increasingly, (taken part in the Nike Women’s 10K run last year and Move With Hart in January). The theme for the event was #UnlimitedYou, you defying your own limits to be great! The campaign has spread from Nike athletes to us as normal people, but is so inspiring! The message alone got me rushing to sign up.

As some of you may have previously read, Barry’s Bootcamp is literally my favourite go to workout hub! Barryโ€™s Bootcamp, so for me to train with them was always a pleasure! KOBOX has tickled my fancy for a while, as I saw them at the Sweatlife Festival, so it was exciting to see what their workouts would entail.

The event led us to Old Truman’s Brewery on Brick Lane, where we signed in, were able to wear our specially printed #UnlimitedYou shirts and wear Nike trial trainers for the workout which made it a bit more cooler, I felt like a Nike athlete for the day lol! We then stayed in the waiting area before the challenge begun….

The Workouts

Before the workout we were led to a dark tunnel where we lined up in two lines single file. emerging from the darkness were trainers. Trainers, that would prepare us for the task at hand. They put us  through some warm ups, ensuring we stayed focused on the task at hand.

As usual, attending a Barry’s class always has me nervous because I know I’m in for a WORKOUT! This session was no different. We began running on the treadmill at a reasonable speed and with time the speed increased as well as the time we ran for was. Within 20 mins I wanted to just fall down literally because it was crazy! Despite having a burn from a leg day workout two days before I told my legs to keep moving no matter how much I wanted to stop. (Also because my treadmill was right at the front๐Ÿ˜‚, I didn’t want to be the one giving up)

The second half of the workout we proceeded to another room and were led by Barry’s trainer Faisal, with some body weight exercises. At first I was bursting with energy and was pumped by the time it was Burpee time I almost cried! (I have a BIG love/hate relationship with burpees ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ)

KOBOX is one of Londons leading boxing boutiques, offering classes to boxers of all levels! In the room we had punching bags awaiting us. I knew the workout was not going to be a joke at all!

We were led by Shane, co-founder of KOBOX and conditioning coach to Olympic boxers, in a centred visual ring.

He led us through a punch by numbers sequence on the heavy bags, where we worked on our co-ordination. The room was dimly lit, giving it a night club feel. Pumped by the music and encouraged by the other trainers we pushed ourselves despite the burn! I felt like I could take anyone on after the session ๐Ÿ˜‚

The second half of the workout was a treadmill workout where we joined other participants of the event. We were led by the Nike Training Club trainers who put us to work; working at different speeds and inclines๐Ÿ˜ฉ I really wanted to give up but I physically pushed through even with sweat dripping into my eye ๐Ÿ˜‚.

We had the Heritage orchestra playing in the background of the second workouts which made the experience just that bit more special! It was an amazing event; to be able to work out with others and share that moment, was something!
The Food

After sweating our butts off, we were rewarded with some delicious treats! A post workout smoothie from Barry’s (chocolate or mango), an avocado/quinoa salad (chicken was also available) from Maple & Fitz, and some protein pancakes topped with summer berries, and Pip & Nut’s infamous nut butters. We had six flavours to choose from!

On the whole the experience was like no other, and nothing short of what I would expect from Nike! It was a pleasure to spend my weekend working out with some cool people and great trainers! The Nike trainers have the best energy ever!
