How Important Is Meal Prep?

Meal Prepping is one of the most talked about health topics when it comes to eating well or losing weight! Proper planning prevents poor performance right? In order to reach your goals as smoothly as possible, meal preparation will save you time and money in the long run!

Getting Started

Firstly before beginning your meal prep, the most essential items you need is the tupperware! Depending on the amount of meals you would like to make at a time, will determine the number of bowls you would need! You can get Tupperware for £1 at the Pound Store.

The next step is set aside one day in the week to cook your meals. Sunday is a perfect day as it is the end of the weekend and a day you are most likely not to be busy. Decide which meal you would not mind eating most days in the week! Although your eating pattern will be repetitive, you can alternate weekly! You should be able to enjoy your food, no matter how healthy it is!

You need to determine which meal you are always short on time to eat/ make. If you find it harder to get breakfast in, or find yourself always buying lunch at work; prep those meals. If you are like myself, and loves fresh meals; you can prep the meals the night before, or morning of. Prepping your meals will ensure that eat in line with your goals! You won’t get sucked into buying less healthier options, AND you will be saving money! You can rack up extra costs of almost double a grocery shop if you do not plan your meals.

In order to effectively to save time you would need to cook a few meals at a time, ideally one to three days at a time, but not too many as you would want them to stay as fresh as possible! In each meal you should aim to have a combination of the following; complex carb, protein, fat, and a fibrous carbohydrate. An example would be brown rice or sweet potato (complex carb), with chicken, beef, pulses or salmon (protein), avocado (fats), and broccoli (fibrous carb).

Finally, enjoy your meals AND enjoy the results of eating well! As we all know abs are made in the kitchen and not the gym!

I meal prepped last Sunday for the first time. I decided to do oatmeal for breakfast, chicken &a kale on a spinach wrap for lunch, and salmon zucchini and brown rice for dinner. I lost 2.5lbs and didn’t workout this week. I’m definitely going to keep with it.
